Welcome to the Harris lab website!
Our lab studies tissue regeneration and the genetics that underlie this complex process. Our research combines traditional genetic approaches, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry and whole genome sequencing to explore how an injured tissue is able to regenerate, and what factors influence this process.
To achieve this goal, we use Drosophila melanogaster, the common fruit fly, whose growth and development has been extensively studied for over 100 years. This model provides us with unparalleled genetic tools to comprehensively study how a tissue undergoes injury-induced regeneration, and thus identify manipulations that can augment this process.
