Welcome to the Harris lab website!

***We are currently looking to add a motivated PhD student to our group for the Fall 2026 cycle. Late applications are accepted, info and application here.***

Our lab investigates how tissues regenerate and the genetic programs that drive this remarkable process. We integrate classical genetics, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and whole-genome sequencing to uncover how damaged tissues repair themselves and which factors enhance—or limit—their ability to do so.

We use Drosophila melanogaster, the common fruit fly, a model organism with more than a century of developmental and genetic research behind it. Its powerful genetic toolkit allows us to probe injury-induced regeneration with exceptional precision and to identify ways to promote or modulate this process.
